The year 2020 will be remembered for many things, most of them bleak and undesirable. However, there was one shining light to come out of 2020 and that was the announcement that the Mornington Mens Div 1 Interclub team, were this years winners of the Kaukau Trophy 2020.
As this years winners, they have earned the right to represent Mornington in next years prestigious 18 Hole Championship Grade alongside the rest of the top Golf Clubs in Wellington.
This achievement is tribute to all the hard work that the players and supporters have put in over the last 9 months. In actual fact the story goes well beyond that. Over the last 3 or 4 years the club has come oh so close to gaining entry into the top 18 hole competition. Coming particularly close last year but just falling at the last hurdle. This years emphatic result saw the team have enough points in the bank to win, without even needing to play the last game.
