Peke Waihanga Artificial Limb Service, All Abilities NZ Golf, Mornington Golf Club supported a Give It A Go At Golf Day for amputees. This was completed inside due to poor weather conditions. Awesome day supported by members having a great deal of fun.
On Saturday 6th April 2019, the Mornington Golf Club ran our Accessible and Junior Golf Tournament where Club members were paired with Accessible and Junior players. The day was also well supported by Special Olympic players from Palmerston North & Hawkes Bay.
This Youtube clip was produced to highlight the work the club has been completing around inclusive golf. The clip was viewed on television throughout the 2016 NZ Golf Open which was Sponsored by Dr Handa who is behind and supporting blind and disability golf.
Fifty four players attended an accessible golf tournament at the club. Accessible players from the central region were paired with club members in a 2 person Ambrose format. The tournament highlighted a skills based approach where they were placed in a 4, 6, or 9 hole division. Excellent day had by all with a total inclusive approach throughout the day. On the weekend of 18th and 19th March 2017 the Mornington Golf Club hosted the Regional Golf Skills and Golf Qualifying tournament. This was attended by 18 players of various level from Wellington, Manawatu, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa area. The following photos are from presentation of awards following the tournament.
